Pinus Mugho

This beautiful evergreen with dark green needles originates from central and southern Europe.  The dwarf version is found in many Japanese rock gardens amongst boulders and similar size plants. 

Where They Do Well

The mugo does best in the full sun, but will also tolerate partial shade.  Well-drained soil is also best. 

Maintenance

The mugo pine is easy to care for and needs limited trimming as it’s a slow grower.  During its initial stages, regular watering is needed.  After the pine is established, the mugo is moderately drought tolerant.
