This is Paul’s place in Diamond Heights, San Francisco. As is typical in the city, he didn’t have the luxury of a huge lot. The solution was to excavate into the hillside about 5′, increasing the square footage. This required the construction of retaining walls to contain the earth. Paul and his team then constructed a 2000 gallon koi pond with a 2 stage filtration system (vortex and bio-filtration), installed a 4 person cedar dry sauna, and an abundant amount of stonework plus lighting.
